Technology Blog 4: Learning to Learn

In Chapter 3, the author emphasizes the idea of being a people (specifically teachers) being lifelong learners. The personal learning networks help people become lifelong learners as it provides a space of information that helps with personal and professional growth all around the world. While the networks are helpful it is important, the rule of the 3 C's must be followed for true success in learning. One C is community which is the ability to bond between the group, allowing people to trust each other and feel comfortable sharing. The next C is collaboration; this allows the group to work together smoothly and includes everyone's diverse backgrounds. The last C is communication, which allows people to actually speak and share their different ideas. All 3 of these tools allows the group to grow which ensuring people are actually learning different things in order to grow. The author also emphases how these tactics leads to the learners becoming active learners instead of passive learners that just accept everything.

This chapter relates to my future in psychology because you have to be a lifelong learner to help all types of people. I say this because no one is the same so, something that worked for one person will not work for another meaning I have to be open to learn new things. Specifically, the 3 C's will help because that builds trust in whatever network I am allowing me to feel comfortable taking tips, information as well as sharing new things I learn. Everyone should try to become a lifelong learner because it prevents someone from being stuck in the same position and mindset.

  1. Hi Jordan!
I really like how you emphasized the importance of the 3 C’s rule. In order to be a lifelong learner, it is important that we all work within communities, collaborate with individuals who may be different from us, and communicate our ideas with others. Learning can be a long and difficult process, within any field, so it is crucial to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who have a similar passion and drive for success! I really like how you connected this chapter to your future career in psychology. Since everyone has different needs to be met, you will constantly be learning from other professionals and even your patients! Great post!

  2. Hello Jordan,
Collaborative efforts with diverse individuals are crucial for fostering learning and intellectual growth. Personal growth within employment or education can be extensive, but learning is more exciting when surrounded by like-minded people. Every individual learns at their own pace, so it is important to be patient!

  3. Hi Jordan, I really enjoy how you thought out that every patient you will come across in your future will have their own personal preferences and experiences, so it is very important for you to be flexible in your work and be able to work with things that are best for someone personally. The three Cs are definitely so valuable to use in your career while learning how you can improve and build on your knowledge.

  4. You pointing out that everyone has different needs and isn't the same is very relatable. And how you connected the 3 C's into that was very well put. It is important to be constantly learning, but being an active learner and not a passive one so you can be a lifelong learner.
